Fine Company - Roots/traditional folk recordings
Fine Company features the tenor/baritone/bass voice of Andy Duinker. Andy's mellow vocals are supported by Donna's harmonies and the instrumental stylings of some fine studio musicians. The CD contains ten tracks including four traditional songs, four original songs (written by Donna) and two songs from Maritime composers John Gracie and Gordie Sampson (with co-writers Bruce Guthro and Jimmy Rankin). A wonderful Maritime collection of songs makes this a great addition to my CD collection.
The CD is worth having for the stunning cover photography, but the music inside lives up to the CD's visual presentation for a truly fine musical offering.
Computer Cat CD - received the 2004 East Coast Music Award (ECMA) for Children's Recording of the Year.
This CD also garnered Donna & Andy a 2003 Music Industry of Nova Scotia (MIANS) nomination for Children's Artist of the Year.
Donna & Andy's new release, Computer Cat, is a journey into a world which includes a Computer Cat, lots of penguins, Forty Little Birdies (sitting on the wire), Splashing in the Puddles and many more songs that will grab the attention and imagination of music listeners of all ages.
The songs on the Computer Cat CD are in a variety of musical styles and instrumental arrangements, creating an interesting listening experience. Donna & Andy are joined by children from their two households, plus nieces and nephews, collectively known as "The Relative Minors" who sing on several of the tracks. They are also joined by some fine studio musicians who provide live instrumentals for the songs. The 13 songs on the CD are presented in two versions: full performance tracks as well as sing-along tracks for those individuals who want to sing with a professional back-up band!
The CD is enhanced by two printed publications: "Computer Cat Song book", and "Computer Cat Teacher's Resource - Songs with cross-curricular activities for elementary classrooms" (teacher resource).
The Computer Cat Song book contains reproducible student vocal parts and lyric sheets, as well as piano accompaniments for all the songs on the CD.
The Computer Cat Teacher's Resource is an exciting new book developed for teachers who wish to use music as a launching point for cross-curricular activities in a variety of subject areas. This resource may be shared between the music specialist and the classroom teacher, providing opportunities to take music out of the music room and expand into the every day activities of the students.
The songs and activities resource includes the songs, full accompaniments, reproducible student vocal parts and lyric sheets as well as cross-curricular activities for elementary classrooms.
